Capital Campaign Kick-Off

Dear Brother,

We hope this letter finds you and your family well. We are writing to update you on our Sigma Chi, Delta Chapter family and to ask for your help. We hope you have had a chance to visit the Fraternity house at 590 S. Lumpkin. It is a beautiful home to the chapter and real point of pride for the alumni. We have an extremely strong undergraduate chapter with over 120 brothers and have just completed a very successful fall rush with 31 new pledges. Our undergraduate brothers are a well-rounded group with solid scholastic achievement, community service, and campus leadership in addition to enjoying a fine social reputation.

The Fraternity house was approximately a $2.2 million project. We came to the alumni in 1997 and had a terrific response raising more than $900,000 from over 300 alums. We obtained a $900,000 mortgage and built the house using short-term financing for the remainder. After a seven-year break, your house corporation is now initiating a new campaign designed to reduce our debt burden. (See Financial report available on the Announcements and Events page.)

Your house corporation has two objectives. First we will raise $400,000 to pay off our short-term obligations. Second, we will retire our long-term debt. It is imperative that our organization be strong financially. All successful organizations must have a source of sustained cash flow. With this in mind we are kicking off our first “Delta Chapter Annual Appeal”. Our goal is to raise a minimum $100K annually with broad participation from alumni and parents every fall for the next several years. We are asking you to make a gift this fall to ensure a successful kickoff season. We have five levels of giving:

Sig Supporter- $50 to $249      Red & Black Sig- $500 to $999

Sig Dawg- $250 to $499          Junk Yard Sig- $1000 to $2499

Hall of Fame Sig- over $2500

Each level of giving will be recognized in different ways at all home football games during the fall as well as on the chapter web site www.deltasig.com. All “Junk Yard Sigs” and “Hall of Famers” will receive a beautiful signed watercolor print of the new house painted by brother David Jones ‘70. Also, you should know that one of our creditors has agreed to match 10% of every dollar we raise this fall. We will thank you, recognize you, and report to you on the success of the campaign, the chapter and the alumni. We know you love Sigma Chi and will help if you can. The success of our campaign depends on you. Please return the enclosed pledge card right away. Our undergraduate brothers will follow up on this letter with a phone campaign to make sure everyone has been contacted and has had a chance to do their part.
